Kilcock GAA Club today welcomes the news of the awarding a sports capital grant of €150,000 to develop a walkway and skills wall on their grounds in Kilcock.

The announcement was made by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media, and Kilcock GAA club wishes to thank Minister Catherine Martin, Minister of State Jack Chambers and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Michael McGrath, for their support.

Today's announcement is a crucial next step in the club's strategic plan that allows Phase 2 to begin.

This plan includes the development of a 1.2-kilometre walkway for use by the local community and building a much-needed skills wall for the further development of players skills.

Kilcock GAA club continues to invest heavily in the development of its facilities. With the imminent opening of their third pitch expected in the late spring, today's news is very welcome and exciting for our club members, especially our players across all codes who have been enjoying unprecedented success on the pitch recently at all age levels.

The club also acknowledges how all constituency TDs have provided cross-party support to Kilcock GAA club. We also thank all of the elected members of Kildare County Council and its management team who are backing the club's development plan. Alongside the Croke Park Development Officers and Kildare County GAA, LGFA and Camogie Boards.

Kilcock GAA chairperson Declan Cahilan said: "It's very heartening for a community-owned club to have practical encouragement for the first time, as we strive to create the facilities that the people of Kilcock deserve".

"I wish to thank Ministers Catherine Martin and Jack Chambers for this allocation which will bring significant improvements to our club. We have demonstrated Kilcock GAA Club's ambition to take our club to a new level through our application.

"There is no time to waste, and we will bring forward the next phase of our plan as soon as possible. Through the improvement of our facilities, we want to develop more male and female players and encourage them to enjoy and participate in an inclusive club and have the best facilities possible for our community to enjoy!

"Finally, I wish to thank the ministers again and my colleagues in Kilcock GAA club Executive and Development Committee's for their fantastic work in reaching a new stage of this plan."
